Lineup at 2004 Nationals; Val was 3rd from the left (3rd place)

Born 1/28/99                     Black roan; white ears & crown

Val is a fantastic doe! She is tall, deep bodied, and angular; she is dairy; she is correct in general appearance; she has a mammary with perfectly sized, shaped, and placed teats. She has been many times BOB and was 3rd place 5-6 year old at the 2004 National showing, placing just below the National GCH and RGCH. The day after we arrived at the 2004 National Show, we were walking around the barn when Melinda spotted Val. She said, "I love that doe!" Jane Schalitzki, the breeder, said, "She's for sale." It didn't take us long to decide that Val was coming home with us, especially when we saw that she descended from our foundation doe, McCayla. We were extremely excited a few days later when I showed her and she placed so high in the class. However, if you had seen her, you would not have questioned her high placement. The judges actually pulled her out along with the GCH and RGCH and spent several minutes debating the placement of the three. Unfortunately, she was slow adjusting to the move from Pennsylvania to Tennessee. She lost several pounds of weight due to scouring for over a week, and her milk production dropped (actually, for two consecutive days she gave NO milk). She fought back and managed to go two times BOB and one time BDIS later that fall.
