I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to own a doe of the quality of McCayla, who was bred by Mrs. Frances Hudson. As the foundation doe of my herd, she was quite a producer, not only of milk, but of offspring, producing 34 kids in her 12 freshenings. Seven of her offspring have finished their championships. Four of her milking daughters, by four different sires, have been shown at National Shows. Their placings were 2nd (CH Mademoiselle), 6th (CH Peanut M&M), 8th (CH Copy), and 7th (CH Cameo). Her daughters, Mademoiselle and Copy, were members of the 1st Place Produce of Dam at the 2000 Nationals. They, along with another McCayla descendent (Madison-whose dam, 3M Magic, is out of a McCayla daughter, Mercedes, and a son/grandson, CH McCaylan), were 2nd Place Best Three Females at the Nationals. Scores for her five daughters that have been linear appraised are 92, 90, 89, 88, and 85. Four of the five received E in mammary. A granddaughter sired by her son and daughter (Carlos and Cameo) appraised 91 (EEEE).
McCayla was a fine show doe, finishing her championship as a 2nd freshener. As a seven year old, she went 4 x BOB, 3 x BDIS and was 4th place, 3rd udder in a class of 45 aged does at the '93 Nationals.
Her descendants make up a large portion of our herd, as I have linebred heavily on her.
